Bockfest 2001

Brewmaster David Waite of Lincoln Highway Brewing in Lisbon, IA accompanied me to New Ulm, MN on February 24th for the 2001 August Schell Bockfest! Bockfest is a chance to enjoy being cold outside, eating lots of bratwurst, landjaggers and kraut, and of course, drinking great Schell's Bock beer! Great polka music and running around the woods hunting bock are also part of the fun! We had a great time, even though we didn't capture any bock.

Here's a link to the August Schell Brewing Company website.

The drive home was a little shaky as it was mostly through white-out conditions as evidenced below.

On the trail of the elusive bock. A good crowd for a cold, rainy Spring day. The polka band kept everybody entertained. Another shot of the crowd. More of the crowd. ...

A parting look at the crowd. The brewhouse looms proudly over the festival. (And no, those Porta-Potties are not piped directly into the brewhouse!) Minnesota State Highway 14.
I think.
A group of trees provided a welcome windbreak. Downright purty. Waiting for Interstate 35 to open in Owatonna. Lots of cars behind us...

...but only three ahead of us!
